U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has condemned House Speaker Mike Johnson’s approval of a bill allocating over $61 billion in aid to Ukraine, labelling it a betrayal of American interests.

Greene expressed her disapproval on the social platform X, stating, ” Johnson once again passed a bill with the help of Democrats while the majority of the Republican majority voted against it.”

“Not only is Mike Johnson a traitor to our conference, he’s a traitor to our country.”

Greene argued that the US would have been stronger had Johnson not been so traitorous,” and reiterated her call for a new House Speaker.

The bill, which passed in the House of Representatives on Saturday, proposes nearly $61 billion in additional assistance for Ukraine. Following the House approval, the document will now move to the Senate for consideration.

In response to the bill’s progression, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov remarked that the expected decision by the U.S. House to allocate additional aid to Ukraine would enrich Washington while leading to ruin for Kyiv.

The US House of Representatives voted on multiple bills regarding security assistance totaling $95 billion for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.

Despite significant objections from some Republican lawmakers, the legislation is expected to pass.

A similar process occurred over two months ago in the Democratic-majority Senate. American officials, including President Joe Biden and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, have urged House Speaker Johnson to move forward with the vote.

Johnson opted to dismiss threats of removal from the divided Republican majority, comprising 218 and 213 members respectively, and push for a vote on aid.
