Candice Ardell, the Deputy Spokesperson for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), has reiterated that peaceful negotiations are the sole path to resolving the ongoing conflict between Israel and Lebanon.

She highlighted that the mission is intensifying its efforts to implement UN Resolution 1701.

In a statement on Saturday, Ardell mentioned that UNIFIL is supporting countries that contribute by sending envoys to help de-escalate the situation, emphasizing that peaceful negotiations are crucial for conflict resolution.

Additionally, she pointed out that UNIFIL monitors violations between Israel and Hezbollah, advocating for long-term solutions to end the border conflict.

Ardell also explained that UNIFIL is acting as a mediator between Israel and Hezbollah to reduce escalations, noting an increase in the mission’s efforts to align with current needs.
