The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) confirmed the deaths of over 13,000 children in Gaza due to Israeli attacks.
The organization added that many children are suffering from severe malnutrition and lack “even the energy to cry.”
Executive Director of UNICEF, Catherine Russell, told CBS network on Sunday, “Thousands more have been injured, or we can’t even locate them. They may be trapped under the rubble… We have not seen this rate of child deaths in almost any other conflict in the world.”
The UNRWA stated that one in every three children under the age of two in northern Gaza is now suffering from acute malnutrition, with famine looming on the horizon.
The dire situation facing children in Gaza highlights the urgent need for international intervention to protect innocent lives and alleviate humanitarian suffering in the region.
As the world watches the escalating violence and humanitarian crisis unfold, efforts must be intensified to ensure the safety and well-being of children caught in the crossfire of conflict.
The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced on Sunday that the death toll from Israeli operations in the region has risen to 31,645 fatalities and 73,676 injuries since October 7th.
The ministry stated in a release that “the Israeli occupation has committed 9 massacres against families in the Gaza Strip, resulting in 92 martyrs and 130 injuries being reported to hospitals in the past 24 hours.”
The ministry also noted that some victims remain under rubble and on the streets, with ambulance and civil defence teams unable to reach them. Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip continue for the 163rd consecutive day.
