Ambassador Haissam Bou-Said, the Chief Administrative Officer of the International Human Rights Council (IHRC) to the UN in Geneva, confirmed that findings proving Israel’s commission of genocide in Gaza are not new.
In an interview with Cairo News Channel, Bou-Said stated, “Today, we issued a statement affirming that all the findings of the UN Fact-Finding Committee, which proved Israel committed genocide in Gaza, have been monitored by us. We had predicted these outcomes due to the military actions, genocide, repression, and atrocities carried out by the Israeli army against defenseless citizens, children, and women in Gaza.”
He added that measures will be implemented based on these investigations. “Any negotiations or ceasefire settlements in Gaza, including aid delivery, will not undermine our core focus on accountability,” he noted.
Bou-Said emphasized the unpredictability of Israeli actions, describing them as outside the realm of expectations and warning against attempts to evade accountability through internal procedures. “We are aware of such tactics and will not be deceived by any actions taken by the Israeli government. We have previously warned that Israel seeks to circumvent legal procedures with internal actions. Hence, we ensure that there will be no impunity for those responsible for violations,” he asserted.
He pointed out that their efforts are based on translating international laws into actionable measures. “We will not allow any party to escape accountability, and we anticipate increased tensions within the Israeli leadership,” he added.
Earlier, a UN investigation committee confirmed that Israel is responsible for crimes against humanity, particularly genocide, in the Gaza Strip since October 7. The committee, established by the Human Rights Council, concluded that crimes against humanity, including genocide, murder, forced displacement, torture, and inhumane treatment, have been committed.
