The International Court of Justice has ordered Israel to immediately allow more essential food items into the Gaza Strip.

The highest UN-affiliated court in The Hague issued the order yesterday, stressing the need to open more crossing points for the transportation of food and medical aid.

In late January, the court had already issued interim measures, directing Israel to do everything in its power to prevent “genocide” in the Gaza Strip.

The decision stated that since the decision issued on January 26, the catastrophic living conditions of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have continued to deteriorate.

The judges specifically referred to hunger, stating that there is not just a risk of famine now, but famine has already begun.

They further added that “Israel must closely collaborate with the United Nations to deliver aid.”

The judges also included water, electricity, clothing, and tents among the relief supplies that are urgently needed.

Additionally, the court warned Israel of the necessity to ensure that its military units do not violate the rights of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, including the urgent delivery of relief supplies.
