The United Nations announced on Wednesday that member states have contributed about $690 million in response to its urgent appeal for Gaza.

The UN office stated that the amount paid represents about 58 per cent of the required response, which is $1.2 billion.

The UN and its partners launched an urgent appeal at the beginning of last year to implement their response plan to support 2.2 million people in Gaza and half a million in the occupied West Bank.

These donations are allocated to sectors including food, health, security, shelter, education, protection, coordination, and more.

Meanwhile, the UN quoted the Palestinian Ministry of Health as saying that approximately 24,285 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since October 7, with 70 per cent of them being children and women.

Additionally, others are still missing or under the rubble. The number of injured stands at a minimum of 61,154.

In the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, a report from the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs stated that 344 Palestinians were killed by Israeli occupation forces and settlers, including 88 children.

Furthermore, 4,215 Palestinians, including 642 children, were injured with various injuries.
