The Russian-Ukrainian frontlines continue to witness a new day of intense conflict and escalation, as Russian forces strive to gain more ground and control Ukrainian territories.
Meanwhile, Ukraine is making efforts to regain the pace of military assistance from the West, similar to the support it received before the outbreak of the Gaza War.
In the latest developments, the Ukrainian Air Force announced that it successfully downed all 14 Russian drones launched over its territory during the night.
On the Telegram messaging app, Ukrainian authorities stated, “Mobile anti-aircraft units, air defense forces, and defense forces in regions like Mykolaiv, Kherson, Khmelnytsky, and Poltava have successfully neutralized all the drones launched by the enemy, totaling 14.”
In parallel news, local sources in the Donetsk People’s Republic reported to the TASS news agency that the shelling experienced by the city of Mariupol during the night of December 14-15 was carried out using “Storm Shadow” missiles.
According to the operational services in the Republic, “It is likely that the missiles used were of the ‘Storm Shadow’ type.”
This comes after Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, confirmed in media interviews that Russia has observed a decrease in U.S. military support for Ukraine, while Kyiv faces setbacks on the battlefield.
Peskov’s comments to Russian media followed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Washington to secure new military aid, which had been stalled due to disagreements in the U.S. Congress.
During talks on Tuesday, President Joe Biden assured Zelenskyy that the United States would not abandon Ukraine, although no commitment to further U.S. support was made.
The situation in Eastern Europe remains tense, with both sides vying for control and international efforts to defuse the crisis proving challenging.
