Jordan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi, has reiterated that his country will take all necessary measures to prevent ongoing threats to Jordan’s security, including striking and pursuing those who pose a threat to the nation’s security, wherever they may be.
Safadi’s statement came during a meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Hussein Amir-Abdollahian, on the sidelines of the Refugee Forum that commenced in Geneva, Switzerland, on Wednesday.
He emphasized that those who targeted the Jordanian military on the border with Syria would pay the price for their aggression.
It is worth noting that a Jordanian soldier was killed, and three others were injured in clashes with armed groups that infiltrated from Syria a few days ago.
Jordan, like many neighboring countries, has been dealing with the complex challenges arising from the Syrian conflict. This includes the infiltration of armed groups, smuggling activities, and the flow of illegal drugs and weapons across its borders from Syria.
The Jordanian government’s commitment to safeguarding its borders and national security is evident in its determination to address these threats head-on.
The recent incident along the border serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges the country faces and the need for vigilance and proactive measures to maintain stability.
The international community continues to monitor the situation closely, as Jordan, a key regional player, works to secure its borders and protect its citizens from external threats.
