In a strategic dialogue aimed at bolstering Ukraine’s defense capabilities, Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov held a phone conversation with British Defense Minister Grant Shapps and Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, the Chief of the UK’s Defence Staff.
Umerov’s primary request was for an escalation in the supply of drones to enhance Ukraine’s effectiveness in countering the Russian fleet.
According to statements released by the “Ukraine Forum” news agency, Umerov emphasized the importance of expanding Ukraine’s triumphs in neutralizing Russian naval forces.
“We also discussed opportunities within the maritime capability alliance, where Ukraine’s success in destroying the Russian fleet needs to be broadened. Therefore, it’s essential to increase Ukraine’s utilization of drones,” Umerov stated.
General Oleksandr Syrskyi, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, also participated in the discussion, updating the British officials on the operational situation and the immediate requirements of the Ukrainian military.
Umerov expressed gratitude towards the UK for committing £200 million towards drone production for Ukraine, signifying the UK’s continued support in the face of ongoing conflicts.
This collaborative effort underscores the international commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and defense against aggression.
