The United Kingdom’s government will provide an additional sum of €45.5 million to support financial loans for 3 million families in Ukraine.
This announcement was made by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in what he described as the top priorities during his address at the European Political Summit in Granada today.
Sunak emphasized that the leaders’ discussions would focus on the ongoing efforts of European partners to supply Ukraine with air defense systems, fighter aircraft, long-range weapons, and to end the blockade imposed by Putin on Ukrainian grain supplies passing through the Black Sea.
The Prime Minister stated that he would allocate extra funds for humanitarian aid to help Ukrainians survive the second winter amidst the conflict.
During the summit, Sunak will officially announce that the United Nations and charities will receive €34 million from London, which will assist in providing shelter and warm clothing to Ukrainians before the winter season.
An additional €11.5 million has been allocated to provide Ukrainian families with electricity.
Earlier, the UK had provided $500 million in loan guarantees “to enable the Ukrainian government to make vital payments to three million families this winter.”
During the meetings in Granada, the British prime minister plans to focus on issues related to the situation in Ukraine and the safe use of artificial intelligence technology.
Sunak also expects to announce new agreements with Belgium, Bulgaria, and Serbia in the field of combating illegal migration.
