In a statement published on the British government’s official website, UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly announced that the G7 foreign ministers would be addressing the escalating tensions between Israel and the Gaza Strip, as well as looking into possibilities to halt the regional escalation.

Alongside tackling this pressing issue, the ministers, convening today in Japan, are set to address a range of other priorities. These include the ongoing conflict in Ukraine instigated by Russia, climate change challenges, economic security, and global trade dynamics.

As per the UK government, a particular focus during the G7 Foreign Ministers’ meeting will be to discuss developments in the Middle East. The aim is to prevent further destabilizing escalation and avoid additional violence that could have far-reaching effects on regional stability.

Moreover, Cleverly is scheduled to meet with his Japanese counterpart, Yoko Kamikawa, to discuss the United Kingdom’s longstanding commitment to the Indo-Pacific region. The Foreign Secretary is also expected to attend a reception dedicated to enhancing UK-Japan relations, where the expansion of youth mobility and working holiday plans by up to 500% will be celebrated.

This initiative aims to provide young people with more opportunities to gain a deeper understanding of the diverse cultures and societies of the two countries.
