The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has firmly and decisively denied the allegations of supplying arms and ammunition to parties involved in the ongoing conflict in Sudan. These allegations were recently brought to light by a media entity.

Afrah Mahsh Al Hamli, the Director of Strategic Communication at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made a clear statement, emphasizing that the UAE has not supplied any weapons or ammunition to the conflicting parties in Sudan since the outbreak of the conflict in April 2023.

Al Hamli stressed that the UAE is not siding with any party in the current Sudanese conflict. Instead, the country is striving to end the struggle, urging respect for Sudan’s sovereignty. She further pointed out that the UAE has consistently called for de-escalation and a ceasefire, urging the commencement of diplomatic dialogues through bilateral and multilateral meetings in cooperation with international partners.

Al Hamli added, “The UAE has always supported the political process in Sudan and the efforts made to achieve national consensus towards forming the government. It will continue to support all efforts aimed at establishing security in Sudan and enhancing its stability and prosperity until a ceasefire is achieved.”

The UAE continues to respond to the humanitarian conditions suffered by the Sudanese people and its repercussions on neighboring countries. It seeks to provide all forms of support to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people, including the launch of air and sea bridges that have provided about 2000 tons of medical, food, and relief supplies to those in need.

The UAE has also constructed a field hospital in Am Djarass in Chad in July to provide medical care for those in need, regardless of nationality, age, gender, or political affiliation. The hospital has successfully treated 4147 cases since its inception. In this context, Al Hamli noted that the UAE recently opened a coordination office for Emirati foreign aid in Am Djarass city.

The UAE’s firm denial and its continued support for peace, stability, and humanitarian aid in Sudan reaffirm its commitment to regional harmony and welfare. The allegations of arms supply are refuted, and the focus is directed towards the nation’s ongoing efforts in providing assistance and pursuing diplomatic resolutions.
