The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has commenced the construction of a field hospital in Amdjarass, Chad to support Sudanese refugees in the Republic of Chad.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs made a statement recently. It announced the start of a field hospital’s construction. The hospital will be built in partnership with several organizations. These include the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works and the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian Works. The UAE Red Crescent Authority is also involved.
This project forms a part of the UAE’s humanitarian assistance. The aid extends to the Sudanese affected by the challenging humanitarian situation. The conflict in Sudan since last April has led to these dire circumstances.
Moreover, this initiative also aims to support the Republic of Chad. It is a part of the response to help ease the impact of the humanitarian crisis there. This crisis is a result of an influx of a large number of Sudanese refugees, driven by the current conditions in their homeland.
The ministry affirmed the UAE’s commitment to enhancing its humanitarian efforts, global cooperation and solidarity, and continuing its humanitarian approach based on providing protection to civilians, especially the most needy groups such as the sick, children, the elderly, and women, and lending a helping hand to countries in times of need.
