In a post on the “X” platform, Fahrettin Altun, Communications Director for the Turkish Presidency, stated that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has dedicated his life to “fighting injustice and has always stood firmly and dignifiedly with the oppressed against the oppressors.”
He warned that “those who dare to issue threats against Erdoğan bear responsibility for the consequences,” adding, “the Israeli government and its members are directly involved in the ongoing genocide in Palestine and have already been condemned in the eyes of global public opinion.”
Altun explained that it is only a matter of time before Israeli officials involved in the genocide against Palestinians are condemned in international courts.
He emphasized that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government is “committing a clear and blatant act of genocide, while his government members express their desire to continue this crime through their speeches and actions.”
Altun stated that supporters of the Israeli government should feel ashamed of themselves, as their support legitimizes and facilitates Israel’s “ethnic cleansing” of Palestinians and encourages more “horrific crimes.”
He continued, “Those who applaud Netanyahu unconditionally in Western capitals are pushing our region into greater chaos.”
“Our message to Israel is clear: If you want lasting peace and security, you must stop the genocide and accept Palestinian sovereignty,” Altun stressed.
He asserted that Israel’s attempts to cover up its crimes by attacking Erdoğan “will not succeed.”
Altun concluded by saying that Turkey will continue to stand with and support Palestine and will not allow anyone to dictate to or threaten Turkey.
Altun’s statements followed remarks by Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz, who claimed that Erdoğan is following in the footsteps of Saddam Hussein and threatens to attack Israel.
In a post on “X” on Sunday evening, the Israeli Foreign Minister stated, “Erdoğan is following in the footsteps of Saddam Hussein and threatens to attack Israel. Let him just remember what happened there and how it ended,” attaching a picture of the late Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Israeli media reported on Sunday evening that President Erdoğan made statements against Tel Aviv, even threatening to invade Israel.
According to Turkish media, Erdoğan said during a meeting with Justice and Development Party officials in the northeastern Turkish city of Rize, “The point Turkey has reached in the defense industries should not deceive anyone; if Turkey were very strong, Israel would not be able to do what it has done in Palestine.”
He added, “We must be very strong so that Israel cannot do these things in Palestine.”
Erdoğan further stated, “Just as we entered Karabakh (Azerbaijan) and Libya, we might do the same with them. There is nothing we cannot do. We just need to be strong, and then what do we do? We take these steps.”
