Tunisia has vehemently condemned the recent Israeli bombing of Beirut’s southern suburb, describing it as a new chapter in the ongoing terrorist assaults against innocent civilians. In a statement released by the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the act was characterized as a blatant violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and international laws and conventions.
Tunisia reaffirmed its solidarity and support for Lebanon, standing against all threats and assaults impacting its security and stability. The statement also conveyed Tunisia’s deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured and wounded.
Furthermore, Tunisia has called on the international community and all parties supporting Israel to take immediate action to stop these repeated attacks on the region’s countries and their peoples, emphasizing the urgent need to halt these grave violations that threaten peace and security in the region.
The Israeli military, on Friday evening, announced the assassination of Ibrahim Aqil, the chief of Hezbollah’s operational system and the actual commander of the Al-Radwan force, and the planner of the party’s strategy to occupy Galilee. The Hebrew newspaper “Maariv” reported that Aqil had been under surveillance since he left a Beirut hospital on Friday morning after being injured in communications device bombings across Lebanon.
According to preliminary data from the Lebanese Ministry of Health, the Israeli airstrike in Beirut’s southern suburb resulted in 14 fatalities and 66 injuries. The Lebanese Media Agency reported that the raid targeted an apartment in a residential building in the Jamous area of the southern suburb during peak hours.
It is noteworthy that several areas in Lebanon experienced two days of widespread cyberattacks on Tuesday and Wednesday, targeting Hezbollah’s pager devices, which led to 37 deaths and over 3,500 injuries, escalating tensions in the region.
