Russian forces have captured two villages in eastern Ukraine, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday.
The ministry’s statement confirmed that Russian units had “liberated” the villages of Zoryan and Zolota Niva in the Donetsk region, located south of the strategic city of Pokrovsk, a logistics hub for the Ukrainian military.
Russia claims that gaining control of these villages has allowed its forces to penetrate deeper into Ukrainian defenses, improving their tactical position in the ongoing conflict.
Meanwhile, Oleksandr Prokudin, governor of the Kherson region, reported on social media that a Russian attack on the outskirts of Kherson, near the Dnipro River, killed one person and injured five others.
