The National Meteorological Office in Algeria reported on Sunday that thunderstorms with heavy rainfall have affected several provinces in the country, both in the east and west.

According to a statement from the meteorological authorities, the provinces that experienced rainfall include Ain Qazzam, Bordj Bou Arréridj, Bordj Baji Mokhtar, and Tamanrasset.

Additionally, the provinces of Mila, Oum El Bouaghi, Tebessa, Batna, Setif, Constantine, and Khenchela have also been impacted by the heavy rains.

The rainfall began around midday and is expected to continue until 9 PM.

The Algerian population is being urged to take precautions and be vigilant due to the potential hazards posed by these weather conditions. Local authorities are advising residents to stay indoors, avoid low-lying areas prone to flooding, and exercise caution while driving.

These thunderstorms are part of a larger weather system affecting the region, and the Algerian meteorological office will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary. It’s crucial for residents to stay informed about the latest developments and heed any official warnings or advice.

This episode of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms emphasizes the importance of preparedness and response strategies for extreme weather events. Algerian authorities are likely to assess the impact of these storms on the affected provinces and take appropriate measures to address any damages or disruptions caused by the adverse weather conditions.
