An incident occurred on the Egyptian border on Saturday morning, resulting in the death of three Israeli soldiers.
The bodies of a male and a female soldier were discovered at approximately 8:30 am local time, while the third soldier, a male, was killed during a firefight that ensued during the subsequent manhunt.

Earlier that same morning, at around 2:30 am, Israeli security forces successfully disrupted a major cross-border drug smuggling operation near Nitzana, located in the same area.
The operation resulted in the seizure of contraband with an estimated value of $400,000. It remains unclear whether these two events are connected, and an investigation is currently underway to determine the details.
Israeli military officers have emphasized that they are maintaining “full coordination” with Egyptian authorities in the aftermath of the border incident.
