Syrian President Bashar Assad held a meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin, where he expressed Syria’s support for Russia’s stance on the situation in Ukraine.
Assad confirmed his country’s opposition to any hostile actions by the West towards Moscow regarding the Ukrainian crisis.
During the meeting, Assad also discussed the situation in Syria, highlighting the unsuccessful attempts by Western powers to disrupt the Syrian government’s efforts in restoring security and stability in the country. He emphasised that these efforts align with the desires of the Syrian people.
The report further mentioned that the discussions between the two sides focused on the bilateral relations between Syria and Russia, including coordination in recent events, counterterrorism efforts, and joint initiatives to facilitate the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland.
Vershinin acknowledged Syria’s political achievements at regional and international levels, expressing Moscow’s steadfast support for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
