Swiss Ambassador to Libya Joseph Philippe Reymond expressed his country’s willingness to assist Libya during this period by supporting the UN Special Envoy, Abdullah Battil.

He affirmed that “Switzerland, as a member of the UN Security Council this year, will work on the stability of Libya through the International Working Group.”

During a meeting with the Swiss Ambassador, Musa Al-Koni, the Deputy Head of the Presidential Council, commended “Switzerland’s role in the field of human rights,” according to a statement from the Presidential Council.

Al-Koni emphasized the “Presidential Council’s desire to achieve stability through democracy that promotes development, rather than the democracy of wars and conflicts.”

The meeting also discussed the latest developments in neighboring countries and the repercussions of wars in the region.

The Deputy Head of the Presidential Council referred to his meetings with the heads and leaders of neighboring countries, especially Niger, and “working to prevent them from getting involved in armed conflicts and their repercussions on Libya, which suffers from divisions, making its borders vulnerable to criminal gangs engaged in smuggling and human trafficking.”

Earlier on Sunday, Deputy Head of the Presidential Council Abdullah Al-Lafi received the German Ambassador to Libya, Michael Oncken.

They emphasized the importance of establishing an authority responsible for supervising the complete reconstruction of Derna and other affected cities due to the storm “Daniel,” free from any political manipulation or disputes.

They discussed the situation in the city of Derna and other eastern Libyan cities affected by floods and torrents, emphasizing the importance of international efforts coming together to provide assistance, according to a statement from the Presidential Council.
