Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) leader, Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, also known as Hemeti, made a significant announcement today, signaling a shift in Sudanese politics. As the country grapples with an ongoing crisis that has lasted for the past three months, the RSF commander has declared the establishment of a consultation committee tasked to liaise with Sudan’s political forces and armed movements.

As reported by Sputnik from Cairo, Hemeti released a statement on his official Twitter account. The announcement highlighted his commitment to dialogue as an indispensable means to achieve comprehensive political resolution in Sudan.

Hemeti’s statement read: “Committed to the principle of dialogue as a fundamental necessity to reach a comprehensive political solution, and in view of the developments the country is witnessing due to the war, it is required to end wide-ranging consultations to address the roots of the accumulated national crisis, thus, the following decision has been issued: The formation of a contact committee with political and societal forces and armed struggle movements.”

The RSF leader’s move underscores the urgency and significance of tackling the challenging circumstances Sudan currently faces. The ongoing crisis, intensified by warfare, calls for in-depth discussions to unearth and resolve the root causes of the long-standing national crisis.

Hemeti’s commitment to broad-ranging consultations shows his recognition of the importance of involving all significant parties in finding a viable solution to the crisis. The formation of this contact committee marks a proactive step towards addressing the issues contributing to Sudan’s predicament, demonstrating a willingness to engage with a diverse range of political forces and armed movements.

This decision by Hemeti can be seen as an effort to bridge gaps between differing political and societal perspectives in Sudan. It underscores the need for collaboration and dialogue in solving the country’s deep-seated issues. Only time will tell how successful these efforts will be in fostering resolution and reconciliation within the troubled nation.
