The political advisor to the commander of the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces, Yousif Ezzat, has dismissed allegations that the forces have been recruiting children.

In an interview with Al Arabiya Al Hadath, Ezzat said, “War propaganda could be behind the circulation of a video of a child claiming to have been recruited by the Rapid Support Forces, and I do not rule out the possibility that it is fabricated and should be verified.”
Adding to his statement, Ezzat said, “We do not need to recruit children, and 60% of the Rapid Support Forces personnel have not yet been involved in the war.”

Ezzat also indicated the forces’ readiness to cooperate with the International Criminal Court. He revealed that they have a legal department and a field court to deal with violations committed by the Rapid Support Forces.

The allegations of child recruitment have stoked controversy and incited the international community’s concern, demanding immediate investigations into these practices. However, the Rapid Support Forces have categorically denied these allegations, describing them as false propaganda.
