The intensity of clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has escalated in several areas of the capital, Khartoum. On Tuesday, fighting renewed in the strategic Al-Muqran area, and airstrikes targeted RSF positions around the Republican Palace. Artillery shelling by the RSF also continued in Bahri and Omdurman, with ongoing clashes near the armored corps headquarters.
Sudanese military jets launched several air raids at dawn on RSF positions in northern Khartoum, hitting areas such as Al-Azba, Shambat, and Al-Maouna in Bahri. In North Darfur, the air force also targeted RSF positions in East and South Al-Fashir. In response, the RSF launched random artillery strikes, causing civilian casualties in northern and western areas of the city.
Sudan is facing a dire humanitarian crisis, exacerbated by ongoing conflict since April 2023. Over 12 million people have been displaced, with the country experiencing severe food insecurity, lack of healthcare, and widespread poverty. The health system is collapsing, with more than 70% of facilities in conflict zones inoperable. Disease outbreaks, including cholera and measles, are worsening, especially for children. Humanitarian access remains severely limited due to intense violence and restrictions, complicating aid efforts. The crisis has created one of the largest displacement situations globally, with millions in urgent need of assistance.
