The Sudanese Army launched a land and aerial assault on locations of Rapid Support Forces in the East Nile locality, north of the capital Khartoum, on Monday.
A military source told “Ultra Sudan” that the land and aerial assault conducted by the Army on Monday in East Nile was extensive and meticulous, aimed at inflicting losses on the Rapid Support Forces.
The assault follows statements made by the Assistant Army Commander, First Lieutenant General Yasser Al-Atta, about the army’s resort to “deadly force”.
The army’s attack came after remarks made by the Assistant Army Commander, First Lieutenant General Yasser Al-Atta, about the army resorting to “deadly force” if the Army Commander agrees in the capital Khartoum.
The military source told “Ultra Sudan” that the attack focused on inflicting a “painful blow” to the Rapid Support Forces and tipping the balance of the armed forces in the capital.
The military source stated that the armed forces are operating according to plans that take some time to win the war and do not rush for quick victories because the war is strategic.
The army executed the large-scale attack on East Nile two days after the destruction of a Rapid Support Forces mobile unit from the same area on the outskirts of the Gezira state, where air strikes carried out by the army resulted in losses of sixty military vehicles belonging to the Rapid Support.
The war has been ongoing for one hundred days in the Sudanese capital and some states, resulting in the deaths of over three thousand civilians and the displacement of three million people from their homes.
Assistant Army Commander, First Lieutenant General Yasser Al-Atta challenged Kenyan President William Ruto who had suggested at IGAD meetings to send East African forces to Sudan to protect civilians and deliver humanitarian aid.
Al-Atta, addressing William Ruto while speaking in front of soldiers at a military base likely in Omdurman according to a circulating video clip, said: “Send us the Kenyan army to see what we will do.”
