Palestinian health officials confirmed that an Israeli airstrike on a home in Jabalia, Gaza Strip, on Sunday, resulted in the death of a senior civil defense official in northern Gaza. The officials specified that the Israeli airstrike on a home in Jabalia killed Mohamed Morsi, the Deputy Director of Civil Defense in northern Gaza, along with four members of his family.
The Palestinian Civil Defense released a statement indicating that “Morsi’s death brings the number of personnel killed in the Israeli military campaign on Gaza since October 7th to 83.”
In related news, residents reported that Israeli forces also destroyed several homes in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City, which is located about five kilometers from Jabalia.
Medical teams stated that they were unable to respond to desperate calls from some residents who said they were trapped inside their homes, some of whom were injured.
A resident of Gaza City, living about one kilometer from the Zeitoun neighborhood, told Reuters, “We constantly hear continuous explosions in Zeitoun, and we know that they (the Israeli military) are destroying homes there. We can’t sleep due to the sound of the explosions, the loud tanks, and the drones that never stop flying.”
