In a remarkable achievement, Saudi Aramco has been honored with the Infrastructure and Construction Award for its adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in both residential and commercial areas. This recognition came during an event held on the sidelines of the Global Smart City Expo in Barcelona.
The award specifically recognizes Aramco’s “Amr” platform, a subsidiary of the company, for its groundbreaking work in revolutionizing facility management and services in Aramco’s headquarters located in Dhahran, Eastern Saudi Arabia. The platform aims to enhance urban life by providing comprehensive services throughout the Dhahran city.
Talal Al-Marri, the Deputy Senior Vice President for Neighborhood Services at Aramco, commented that this award reflects the company’s commitment to developing smart cities on a global scale.
He emphasized that this endeavor is crucial in meeting the evolving needs and expectations of urban communities, going beyond providing basic services such as transportation and utilities. Smart cities, as exemplified by Aramco’s infrastructure, leverage technology to create more interconnected and sustainable urban lifestyles.
Nabil Al-Naim, the Deputy Senior Vice President for Digitization and Information Technology at Aramco, considers the company a pioneer in creating a positive impact through its investments in advanced digital technologies like IoT and AI.
He highlighted that the “Amr” platform is a practical application of Aramco’s contribution to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, positively reshaping the business landscape and enhancing the quality of life for its employees within and outside the workplace.
The “Amr” platform, under Aramco’s Neighborhood Services, focuses on improving construction quality, space planning, asset management, and facility management in Dhahran. It harnesses centralized data to predict issues and discover data-driven predictive maintenance solutions for all services through a unified public service interface that is easily accessible.
With a strong focus on efficiency and sustainability, the benefits of the “Amr” platform include annual savings of 1.7 billion gallons of water, 20.5 gigawatt-hours of energy, a 31% improvement in operational performance, a 40% increase in process automation, and over 30% enhanced efficiency levels. Aramco’s dedication to smart infrastructure and technological advancement continues to pave the way for a more sustainable and connected future.
