In a recent statement published on the X platform, formerly known as Twitter, the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Lebanon called on its citizens to promptly leave Lebanese territories and avoid areas experiencing armed conflicts.
While specific regions were not mentioned, the embassy emphasized the importance of adhering to the ban on Saudi nationals traveling to Lebanon.
Likewise, the Kuwaiti Embassy in Lebanon issued a statement urging its citizens to exercise caution.
The statement, published on the Foreign Ministry’s’ X account, requested Kuwaiti nationals in Lebanon to be vigilant, steer clear of sites of security disturbances in certain areas, and follow instructions from local authorities.
These travel advisories come in light of the update by Saudi Arabia on August 1st, advising against all non-essential travel to areas in southern Lebanon, particularly near the Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp.
The region has been facing clashes between the Fatah movement and Islamist militants, resulting in at least 13 fatalities, mostly armed combatants, since the outbreak of the fighting on July 29th.
According to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), the Ain al-Hilweh camp is the largest among the 12 Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, housing approximately 80,000 of the country’s up to 250,000 Palestinian refugees.
