Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman held discussions with his British counterpart, Grant Shapps, focusing on the situation in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement released on the X platform, Prince Khalid bin Salman highlighted the review of the strategic defense partnership and ways to enhance it in various fields of mutual cooperation between the two countries.

The Saudi Prince further elaborated, “We discussed the latest regional and international developments and examined the situation in Gaza.”

“I emphasized the importance of a comprehensive halt to military operations, the protection of civilians, and the facilitation of humanitarian aid.”

This dialogue between Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom (UK) reflects ongoing efforts to address escalating tensions and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with a shared commitment to peace and stability in the region.

Palestinian media sources reported that Israeli military vehicles and tanks have withdrawn from areas they had positioned in the central and northern parts of the Gaza Strip, following the commencement of a humanitarian ceasefire.

The humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, facilitated by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States, entered its first day on Friday. It followed continuous Israeli aggression since October 7th, which resulted in the martyrdom of over 15,000 citizens, including 6,150 children and more than 4,000 women, in addition to over 36,000 injured.

On the eve of the first humanitarian truce in Gaza, Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee announced that movement from the southern part of the Gaza Strip to the north would not be allowed during the truce.
