Saudi Arabia begins enforcing a decision to ban outdoor work under direct sunlight in all private sector establishments from 12 PM to 3 PM, starting from Saturday, June 15th, until Sunday, September 15th.
This decision is part of efforts to safeguard the safety and health of workers in the private sector, preventing them from potential health risks, and ensuring a safe working environment for them in accordance with global standards of occupational health and safety.
The Ministry of Human Resources has urged employers to organize their working hours and adhere to the decision’s provisions, aiming to contribute to providing a safe work environment free from various risks, enhancing the efficiency of preventive measures to reduce injuries and occupational diseases, and protecting workers from accidents, which ultimately leads to improving and increasing productivity.
The ministry has published an operational guide for occupational health and safety to prevent the effects of exposure to sunlight and heat stress on its website, urging reporting of violations related to the decision by contacting its unified number (19911) or through its smartphone application.
