The Saudi Ministry of Health has underscored the importance of taking precautions against the spread of influenza and preventing respiratory illnesses by receiving the influenza vaccine.
This measure aims to prevent infection and alleviate the accompanying symptoms caused by the virus.
In a statement reported by Saudi channel Al-Ikhbariya, the Saudi Ministry of Health has urged its citizens to proactively schedule appointments to receive the seasonal influenza vaccine at the nearest healthcare center or through the “Sehati” application.
This initiative is particularly important as the summer season comes to an end and the country enters a period of weather fluctuations.
The Ministry emphasized that the vaccine significantly reduces the number of cases, especially since influenza is a highly contagious viral infection that can affect individuals of all age groups.
Earlier, the Saudi Ministry of Health had announced that seasonal influenza and pneumonia were the fifth leading cause of death in Saudi Arabia. Globally, seasonal influenza is estimated to cause between 290,000 to 650,000 deaths annually, according to the World Health Organization.
The Saudi Ministry of Health’s call for influenza vaccination is a proactive step to protect public health and minimize the impact of seasonal influenza outbreaks.
It encourages citizens to take responsibility for their health and well-being by getting vaccinated and reducing the risk of influenza-related complications.
