The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs voiced a stern response on Saturday regarding the recurring incidents of disrespect and desecration of Islamic holy places and symbols. The Ministry expressed deep concern over the lack of effective measures taken to prevent such incidents from recurring.
This came in a statement by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stating, “The Ministry expresses the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s strong condemnation and dismay over the failure to take necessary actions to prevent repeated violations against Islamic holy places. The latest incident involved a group of extremists in Denmark.”
The Saudi Ministry continued, “The Ministry articulates the Kingdom’s condemnation in the strongest terms of these acts that incite hatred and violence between religions. At the same time, it warns against the recurrence of such actions that provoke the feelings of millions of Muslims around the world.”
On Thursday, a video appeared on Facebook, allegedly showing a Danish protestor burning the Quran and the Iraqi flag outside the Iraqi embassy in Denmark. The authenticity of the video could not be independently verified by the CNN network.
