Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah engaged in pivotal discussions with Wang Yi, the Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China, revolving around the most recent developments and escalating situations in Gaza and its surroundings.
The international efforts being exerted concerning this, as well as the imperative of halting all forms of civilian targeting, were key points of emphasis, aligning with a mutual commitment to adhere to international humanitarian law.
Wang Yi reaffirmed – in a telephone conversation with Prince Faisal bin Farhan today – China’s stance and responsibility as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, emphasizing the crucial role of the Council in maintaining international peace and security.
This comes with pushing for an immediate halt to military operations and lifting the blockade on Gaza.
The dialogue between the Saudi and Chinese foreign ministers reinforces an international consensus on the urgency of addressing the matter, ensuring that all forms of targeting civilians are halted and that all conflicting parties adhere to stipulations outlined in international humanitarian law.
The Kingdom reiterated its rejection of calls for the “forced displacement” of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and condemned Israel’s continued targeting of “innocent civilians.”
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its “strong rejection of calls for the forced displacement of the Palestinian people from Gaza and its condemnation of the ongoing targeting of innocent civilians there.”
Saudi Arabia renewed its appeal to the international community to swiftly act to halt all forms of military escalation against civilians, prevent a humanitarian catastrophe, and provide the necessary relief and medical supplies to the population.
The ministry added that “depriving them of these basic requirements for a dignified life constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law and will exacerbate the crisis and suffering in the region.”
