Russia issued a warning, stating that it would target British assets inside and outside Ukraine if British weapons were used to strike Russian territory.
Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, emphasized Moscow’s stance during a conversation with TASS.
She reiterated that if London’s threats of strikes on Russian soil using British weapons materialized, Russia reserved the right to retaliate.
This retaliation could involve targeting British assets in Ukraine and beyond. Zakharova criticized former British Foreign Secretary David Cameron’s statements, labeling them as “completely insane.”
She argued that such actions lacked legitimacy and rationality, particularly considering recent statements made by British officials.
Cameron, during a visit to Kyiv, had declared Ukraine’s right to strike Russian territory with British weapons and pledged to provide a modified version.
The Russian Foreign Ministry lodged a strongly-worded protest with the British Ambassador in Moscow, warning against the consequences of using British weapons to target Russian territory.
