Russia has dispatched 27 tons of humanitarian aid to the besieged Gaza Strip via Egypt, according to an announcement from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations on Thursday.
Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Ilya Denisov stated in a press release that a special Ilyushin-76 aircraft from the ministry took off from Ramenskoye Airport near Moscow bound for El Arish Airport in Egypt.
The humanitarian aid, including flour, sugar, rice, and pasta, will be handed over to representatives of the Egyptian Red Crescent to be sent to the Gaza Strip.
The statement also mentioned that this humanitarian assistance from Russia was organized under the direction of Russian President Vladimir Putin and by order of the Russian government.
On Wednesday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov announced that Moscow had sent humanitarian aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip and emphasized the importance of delivering it to those in need.
It should be noted that the death toll from Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank had reached more than 3,478 killed and 12,000 injured as of last Wednesday.
