The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday that Ukrainian troops have incurred significant casualties in the ongoing conflict.

According to the ministry, approximately 7,500 Ukrainian military personnel have been killed or injured on the line of contact since 4 June.

The ministry stated that Ukraine conducted unsuccessful offensives in multiple directions, including South Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk, resulting in continued losses.

The statement emphasised that the mentioned casualty figure only accounts for the losses on the line of contact and does not include Ukrainian military personnel killed by Russian long-range precision weapons and aviation within Ukrainian territory.

Russian President Vladimir Putin also commented on Ukraine’s counter-offensive, characterising it as unsuccessful and stating that the Ukrainian army has suffered major losses.

During a meeting of war correspondents, he described the losses incurred by Kyiv as approaching a “catastrophic” level.
