Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated on Friday that NATO governments had been sponsoring Kyiv’s nuclear terrorism.
Zakharova commented on a Ukrainian drone falling in Kurchatov in Russia’s borderline Kursk Region on her Telegram channel.
“A Ukrainian drone fell in the town of Kurchatov where the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant is located. <…> The peoples of NATO countries should realize that their governments have been sponsoring acts of nuclear terrorism being committed by the Kyiv regime,” she emphasized.
Earlier on the day, Kursk Region Governor Roman Starovoit reported that a Ukrainian drone fell in Kurchatov last night, with the facade and windows of a residential building being damaged from the detonation.
Starovoit added that there were no casualties.
Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed on Thursday that Ukraine’s membership in NATO will pose a threat to Russia’s security and was one of the reasons for Moscow to launch its invasion.
“As for Ukraine’s membership in NATO, we have repeatedly said that this poses a threat to Russia’s security, obviously,” Putin noted.
He added: “And, in fact, one of the reasons for the special military operation [Russian invasion of Ukraine] is the threat of Ukraine joining NATO.”
On his part, U.S. President Joe Biden indicated that there was no real prospect of Putin using nuclear weapons.
