Russia and Iran have finalised the preparations for a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement, with the historic signing expected to occur soon, Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko told TASS.

“During highly productive consultations between the legal and territorial experts of the two countries’ foreign ministries held in Moscow on June 21, we managed to finalize the text of the agreement. As a result, we have agreed to initiate the necessary domestic procedures to prepare the agreement for signing during one of the upcoming high-level bilateral contacts. We hope to witness this truly historic event in the near future,” Rudenko stated.

He highlighted that the drafting of this significant document, which aims to elevate Russian-Iranian relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership, has been ongoing for almost two and a half years and is now complete.

Previously, IRNA reported that Iranian President-elect Massoud Pezeshkian informed Russian President Vladimir Putin in a telephone conversation that Tehran is ready to sign the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement with Moscow in October at the BRICS summit in Kazan.
