During a meeting with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng at the Eastern Economic Forum, President Vladimir Putin highlighted that China-Russian relations have reached an unprecedented level.

The discussion, held in Vladivostok, Russia’s Far East, saw Putin expressing his pleasure at the participation of Chinese representatives at the forum, stating that the bilateral relations between the two nations are at an all-time high.

“Thanks to our joint efforts, the relations between China and Russia have achieved an unprecedented high level. We also place great importance on regional cooperation and hope that today’s meetings and our joint work tomorrow will open up new avenues for bilateral cooperation,” Putin said.

Putin also expressed his hope that Vladivostok would become a hub for cultural exchanges between the two countries, attracting tourists from around the world.

He noted that Russia is looking forward to hosting Chinese President Xi Jinping at the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan this October.

Trade between China and Russia in the first half of this year rose by 1.8% compared to the same period last year, reaching $116.87 billion, according to Chinese customs data.

In the first seven months of 2024, Russia supplied China with 62.577 million tons of crude oil worth $37.341 billion, marking a 3.17% increase from the previous year.

The Eastern Economic Forum is taking place from September 3-6 at the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok.

Earlier this week, Jordan’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh Kharabsheh, alongside the Regional Director of CTGI Renewable Energy Partners, Mohammed Abu Attiya, signed a memorandum of understanding to conduct feasibility studies for green hydrogen projects in Jordan.

Minister Kharabsheh expressed in a press statement following the signing that the memorandum aims to produce 200,000 tons of green ammonia annually.

He outlined that this memorandum sets the general framework for cooperation to facilitate the company’s efforts in conducting an initial feasibility study for a new green hydrogen project.
