The world is still reeling from the devastating Israeli airstrikes that targeted the Salam camp in the Mawasi area of Rafah on Sunday night, claiming the lives of dozens of displaced Palestinians.
In a grim repetition of events, Israeli drones struck again on Tuesday, targeting tents in the UNRWA camps west of Rafah, as reported by Al Arabiya/Al Hadath correspondent.
The correspondent also confirmed that Israeli tanks expanded their ground operation into the depths of Rafah city.
Additionally, artillery shelling targeted the Indonesian field hospital in Tal al-Sultan, west of Rafah, and a residential house in the area, resulting in several casualties, according to Palestinian media reports.
The Palestinian Center for Media, on Telegram, stated that Israeli artillery targeted the upper floor of the Indonesian hospital.
Meanwhile, Al-Aqsa TV reported that a body was brought to the Emirati hospital following shelling in the Barakat area west of Rafah.
These field developments come after the displaced Palestinians in the Salam camp, which the Israeli military had deemed “safe,” were shocked by airstrikes that set their tents and the bodies of the victims ablaze on Sunday night.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that 45 people were killed and dozens injured, mostly women and children, in the Israeli airstrikes on the refugee camp.
The tragedy has been condemned by many Arab and Western countries.
In response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s description of the strike as an “unfortunate tragic accident,” Martin Griffiths, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, stated that the Israeli strike on Mawasi is “one of the latest atrocities and perhaps the most severe.”
Griffiths, in a statement, highlighted that Netanyahu’s description “means nothing to those killed, those mourning, and those trying to save lives.”
The series of events underscores a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict, with international calls growing for an urgent resolution to prevent further loss of innocent lives.
