Russian President Vladimir Putin revealed that he engaged in an extensive discussion on both bilateral and international matters with his counterparts from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) during a visit to St. Petersburg’s cultural sites.
The informal CIS summit was inaugurated by Putin at the Konstantinovsky Palace, where he shared insights on the day’s discussions.
“While moving from hall to hall, all of you, as well as me, thoroughly talked about current affairs in the bilateral, multilateral format. We also exchanged opinions on international affairs,” stated Putin.
Earlier in the day, Putin and the CIS leaders explored various park and palace complexes near St. Petersburg.
Putin expressed satisfaction with the productive nature of the discussions, emphasizing the richness and activity of the outgoing year for the CIS.
As the meeting concluded, Putin extended New Year greetings to the CIS leaders and wished them, their families, and all citizens within the CIS space strong health, happiness, well-being, peace, and prosperity.
He underscored the priority task of the Russian presidency in preserving and strengthening close ties between CIS countries, fostering friendship, and promoting good-neighborly relations throughout the Commonwealth.
Putin affirmed a commitment to robust work in achieving these goals in the upcoming year.
