Across multiple US universities, a surge of pro-Palestinian protests has emerged, demanding divestment from Israel-related entities amid ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Originating at Columbia University, demonstrations spread nationwide, leading to clashes with law enforcement and campus disruptions. Columbia’s encampments advocating divestment sparked tensions and resulted in mass arrests.

A visit by House Speaker Mike Johnson to Columbia ignited further controversy, with clashes and calls for university leadership resignations.

Similar protests erupted at institutions like UT Austin and USC, where clashes and arrests occurred, drawing attention to the intensity of the confrontations.

Democratic leaders criticized police responses and divisive interventions, while faculty at UT Austin announced a strike in solidarity with protesters.

Despite resistance from university administrations, student demonstrators remain steadfast in their demands for divestment and academic boycotts, signaling ongoing tensions on campus.
