Energy ministers from the International Energy Agency (IEA) are meeting today to discuss energy security and climate change goals.
The two-day meeting will bring together ministers from the IEA’s 31 member countries, as well as representatives from industry, finance, and civil society.
Risks to Energy Security
The meeting will focus on the risks to energy security posed by the war in Ukraine, geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, and the implementation of the COP28 climate summit decisions.
The IEA is a forum for countries that consume the majority of the world’s energy. It provides recommendations to industrialized countries on energy issues.
50th Anniversary
The IEA is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. It was founded in 1973 in response to the oil crisis of that year.
The IEA’s ministerial meeting will discuss how the global energy system has changed over the past 50 years and how to address the challenges of energy security and climate change.
