The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has condemned Israel’s ongoing colonial settlement policies, which involve the confiscation of thousands of acres of Palestinian land.
The latest instance includes the seizure of heritage sites in the village of Sebastia, located in the Nablus Governorate.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Monday, the OIC stated that these actions are part of a broader racist policy employed by the Israeli occupation.
This policy targets hundreds of archaeological, historical, and scientific sites, as well as religious sanctities in Gaza, the West Bank, and occupied East Jerusalem.
The aim is to erase, loot, falsify, and destroy the cultural and civilizational heritage of the Palestinian people, constituting a blatant violation of international law, the Geneva Conventions, relevant United Nations resolutions, and the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict and its protocols.
The OIC has called on the international community, particularly the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), to take swift action to protect both tangible and intangible cultural properties in the occupied Palestinian territories.
