If the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Oslo is committed to apprehending him if he visits.

Eddie, a Norwegian official, clarified that “the court decides on issuing the arrest warrant. If this happens, all countries that are signatories to the Rome Statute, which established the court, are obliged to comply.”

Israeli media have paid significant attention to these statements. The Israel Broadcasting Authority reported that Norway is “the first European country to threaten the arrest of Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.”

However, Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper noted that this threat is ineffective as neither the Prime Minister nor the Defense Minister is likely to visit Norway soon.
