A collision occurred near the White House on Saturday evening, killing one man, according to the police report.
The Metropolitan Police Department was called to the scene at the corner of 15th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest in Washington, D.C., around 10:45 p.m.
The car involved hit a security barrier surrounding the White House. Authorities are currently treating the event solely as a traffic accident.
Meanwhile, the Secret Service teamed up with other law enforcement authorities and responded to the scene in Washington D.C.
The cause of the crash remains unknown at this time, but officials have confirmed that the male driver occupant of the vehicle has been pronounced dead at the scene and an investigation is underway only as a traffic crash is still developing.
A spokesperson for the White House stated that the Israeli army’s withdrawal from southern Gaza is likely just a “break” for its forces.
John Kirby told ABC News, “As we understand it, and based on what they’ve announced, it’s really a period of rest and recuperation for their (Israeli army) forces on the ground for the past 4 months.”
However, the White House official clarified that the Israeli withdrawal is not necessarily indicative of “a new and imminent operation by these forces.”
Israel withdrew all its forces from southern Gaza, including Khan Yunis, according to the army and media reports, after months of fierce battles with Hamas, which led to widespread destruction in the area.
The White House has criticized a GOP-led initiative proposing $17.6 billion in defence support for Israel and the replenishment of American military reserves, accusing it of being a politically motivated tactic due to its exclusion of additional aid for Ukraine.
The plan, put forward by California Representative Ken Calvert, emerges as the Senate prepares to review critical legislation aimed at extending financial support to Ukraine, enhancing aid to Israel, and tightening security at the US-Mexico border.
