The Libyan National Commission for Human Rights has reported continuous efforts by Tunisian authorities to transport migrants to the Tunisian-Libyan border areas and push them into Libyan territory. The commission revealed in a statement that around 100 migrants of various nationalities were caught illegally crossing into Libyan territory from Tunisia.

The Libyan human rights body holds the Border Guard Force of the Dbeibah-led Interior Ministry fully legally responsible for continuing to collude with the Tunisian side in the expulsion of irregular migrants and asylum seekers from Tunisian territory into Libya. This criticism comes despite claims by the Dbeibah government’s Interior Minister last December of full control and security over the Libyan-Tunisian border.

Furthermore, the commission has called on the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Attorney General to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the process of bringing irregular migrants and asylum seekers from the Tunisian border into Libya. It also demands accountability for officials of the Border Guard Force for their negligence and failure to secure and protect the Libyan border with Tunis
