Mohamed al-Menfi, President of the Libyan Presidential Council (LPC), has passionately appealed for an end to the Israeli occupation forces’ plans for a ground invasion of the Gaza Strip.
During his address at the opening session of the Egypt International Peace Summit on Saturday, al-Menfi urged an immediate halt to the ongoing actions in Gaza, emphasizing that the occupation’s practices have flagrantly violated international norms and laws.
The Egypt International Peace Summit, convened to deliberate on the future of the Palestinian cause and the peace process, is a critical initiative in response to the enduring Israeli aggression on Gaza, which has persisted for fifteen days.
The summit’s significance is underscored by the cancellation of the American-Egyptian-Palestinian-Jordanian quadrilateral summit previously scheduled in Amman, Jordan.
The forum seeks to provide a platform for discussions on the evolving situation in the region, especially in the aftermath of the Israeli assaults on Gaza.
Massive demonstrations erupted in various Libyan cities on Friday, reflecting widespread solidarity and support for the Palestinian people. Demonstrators vehemently denounced the continued Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in the tragic loss and injury of thousands of Palestinians, including a significant number of children and women. The call for an end to the aggression resonates with the global plea for a peaceful resolution and the protection of civilians in the conflict-torn region.
