Lebanese Labor Minister Mustafa Bayram informed Sputnik that the Lebanese government has prepared an action plan in anticipation of potential escalations in the conflict with Israel.
However, he noted that due to Western pressures, international organizations have failed to provide the necessary support.
Bayram emphasized that any potential armed conflict between Lebanon and Israel would present significant challenges for the Israel Defense Forces.
He stated that the decision to engage in war rests solely with Israel, asserting Lebanon’s right to self-defense and highlighting the unpredictability of the situation.
He also pointed out that Hezbollah is prepared for such a conflict, and Israel does not require any justification to launch attacks on Lebanon.
Tensions along the Israeli-Lebanese border have intensified, with daily exchanges of fire between the Israeli army and Lebanese Hezbollah fighters, following Israeli military actions in Gaza since October 2023.
The Lebanese Foreign Ministry reported that approximately 100,000 people in southern Lebanon have been displaced due to Israeli shelling, with a similar number of evacuations occurring in northern Israel.
Israel is redirecting its military efforts towards the northern front with Hezbollah, potentially reducing its activities in Gaza.
This strategic pivot was confirmed by Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who noted that the Israeli military is gradually shifting its attention from Gaza to the Lebanese border.
During a tour in the north on Tuesday, Gallant revealed that Israel had scaled down its Gaza operations and is now focusing on confronting Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon.
He assured soldiers that while the base of operations was moving from south to north, many tasks remained in the south.
Hours after Gallant’s remarks, Israeli aircraft launched airstrikes on Hezbollah sites in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley for the second consecutive night.
