Kuwait’s Foreign Minister, Salem Al-Sabah, reiterated today that Kuwait remains steadfast in its position of supporting the Palestinian cause, especially concerning sending humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, as reported by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
Al-Sabah announced, “Kuwait will launch an air bridge to provide relief to the residents of Gaza in response to their calls, commencing tomorrow, Monday.”
The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister mentioned that the decision to establish the air bridge was made under the directives of the Emir of Kuwait, Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Crown Prince, Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and the Prime Minister, Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
The minister further added, “The Kuwaiti airlift aims to alleviate the impact of the aggressive Israeli occupation that the Palestinians in Gaza are facing.”
Planes carrying the relief and humanitarian aid are scheduled to head to the Egyptian city of Al-Arish, in preparation for their transfer to the Gaza Strip. The agency indicated that the assistance includes medicines and medical supplies.
Foreign Minister Salem Al-Sabah asserted, “Relief operations will continue daily throughout this week.”
The World Health Organization (WHO), World Food Programme, UNICEF, United Nations Development Programme, and the United Nations Population Fund have described the situation in the Gaza Strip as “catastrophic.”
