The Iraqi province of Kirkuk witnessed an exchange of gunfire between Asayish forces and members of the terrorist organization ISIS (banned in Russia and several other countries).
According to Alsumaria News, Asayish forces in Kirkuk reported that they repelled a terrorist attack, killing two ISIS members, while one Asayish member lost his life during the clash.
In a statement, the Directorate of Asayish Kirkuk detailed that the shootout occurred at 8:00 AM today in the Qara Hanjir area.
The Asayish forces engaged in a firefight aimed at arresting two ISIS militants after receiving prior information and conducting precise monitoring. As a result, one terrorist was killed and another was injured.
These clashes in Kirkuk follow a similar confrontation in Diyala just a day earlier, which resulted in the deaths of three Iraqi army soldiers.
In June, the Iraqi army’s air force successfully destroyed an ISIS boat, motorcycle, and generator in Diyala province.
The Iraqi Ministry of Defense stated that these were destroyed during an armed reconnaissance and search operation within the Diyala Operations Command, as reported by Alsumaria News.
Previously, the Iraqi Ministry of Defense announced the death of Colonel Khaled Najee Wasak, commander of the second battalion of the 93rd Infantry Brigade, 21st Infantry Division, along with several brave fighters, as they defended against a terrorist assault in their area of responsibility.
The ministry’s statement highlighted the heroism of the martyred commander and soldiers who reinforced the military units that repelled the terrorist attack, ultimately defeating the remnants of ISIS.
Additionally, Alsumaria News, citing a security source, reported the martyrdom of five soldiers, including a battalion commander, following an ISIS attack on a military post under the Salahuddin Operations Command of the Iraqi army in the Mutaybijah area, east of the province.
